Europeans don’t even like where the EU is headed
Because the EU is a collection of many many nations. China is a single country. Unless the entirety of Europe unites unconditionally into the country of Europe, there’s not much of a chance of them being a “superpower”.

Well one thing that I can list to why we should fear China is that we owe a major amount of money to them. our debt is a quarter of what our country is worth, that just shows how we americans like to spend money, and sometimes its put to good use, but mostly we might as well burn it.
Basically what im saying is that when you owe that much money to someone else, they sort of have control over you, money wise. They tell you when to pay, and if you don’t, mostly there will be a consequences.
the interests of america and the eu are similar. continued dominance of the world by the west. china is a threat in the east and may work against continued dominance by the west. china’s authoritarian capitalism poses a challenge to western ideology. their large population and large army also pose a threat.

I’m not particularly pro or anti European Union, I’m not pro or anti United States of America. I don’t see some massive conspiracy on either side, this is just politics, people are looking out after their own interests. But I sure as hell don’t like American Interest Groups messing around in European Politics. If the European Union does decide one day to form together as a Superpower it is our right to do so.
The reason why the average American doesn’t care about the European Union, is one Europeans are friends with the United States and the Average American isn’t going to loose out if Europe becomes more powerful. If the European Union was to merge it’s army it would be the largest on Earth, and the second best funded compared to the United States but that could quickly change considering the European Union has a larger economy than that of the United States. The European Union now with the Lisbon Treaty has a President of sorts in Herman Van Rompuy, Foreign Secretary of the European Union in Catherine Ashton the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. It already has a directly elected Parliament and it’s own currency, and anyone that’s been to Europe would know we do have a common language English well the vast majority of us, we just happen to speak other languages too.
Someone else answered here and said China was a nation state and that’s why China is powerful, that’s why Americans care about it and not the European Union. I would say the opposite China lacks the dynamic nature of the European Union.
