It’s not just a question of American versus Chinese. there are great hand shaped surfboards made in other countries, like Australia and South Africa among others.

Boards made in China (and Thailand, and Eastern Europe) are cranked out in a factory by people who may never have seen the ocean. They a “popped out” and made with substandard foam and fiberglass. The have no quality control in the process. Plus they are made under sweatshop conditions by people who earn next to nothing for their efforts. Plus, the ‘steal’ a sale from a decent manufacturer. Read this link and get a good idea of what is wrong with pop outs: http://www.mckevlins.com/nopopstory.htm

This is a pretty good list of sweatshop pop outs:http://bp3.blogger.com/_hPACOtZKKko/RkSTwhvv9kI/AAAAAAAAAfg/QMqBFAtXzQ4/s1600-h/chinaboards.jpg
But there are lots of others (like Stretch).

Hey, you have it now. You might as well ride it. Sell it at the end of the summer and buy a decent surfboard.

  4. Most people think surfboards made in China a real bad quality. However, i have had a few surfboards made from China and i am more than happy with the construction and quality!
