  1. FRANCISCO says:

Taiwan has never been part of China, this is a myth perpetuated by the Chinese. Taiwan was originally part of Japan, not China. If it should be returned to anyone, it would be Japan, not China.

  2. Now Now says:

Historically, Taiwan harboured fugitives from the mainland China. These fugitives formed a government which they claimed was the real Chinese Government.

  3. Messin with Sasquatch! says:

It is a sore spot with the Chinese. Taiwan is the place where all the Nationalist settled to escape the Communist during their civil war. SO in a way, Taiwan IS a part of China. But a different “mind-set” of CHinese.

And Communists have VERY INFLATED EGOS! As if the world is supposed to cater to them.

  4. Carrusel says:

I’m old enough to remember the threat of nuclear war when the USA protested about the Russians installing missiles in Cuba. Astonishingly the USA think it’s right to install missiles in Taiwan. The situation is almost identical. What gives the Americans the right to do this.
The world is a safer place these days with the threat of nuclear war, but actions like this will only damage goodwill between nations. We are now about to see a trade war between the US and China. These days it will hurt the US more than China. Recovery from the recession has just become harder.

  5. Ingrid says:

    Taiwan is part of China.

  6. Vash says:

Taiwan was a part of China’s Ming Dynasty (1368~1644), and Qing Dynasty (1644~1912). Then Republic of China(1912~today still on Taiwan).

Read up the history. Taiwan was always a part of China. Taiwan’s official name is Republic of China. And their Constitution claim ALL of China.

Current situation was caused by a civil war (1945~1949). With the old government lost everything but Taiwan. Due to the intervene from the anti-communist USA, Taiwan was placed under U.S. “protection” as another stronghold to blockade mainland China(or rather…”contain” the communists) since it is in the middle of China’s east coast. It is a strategic location. Can easily cut off the shipping lane from south to north. Also it is in possible to launch anything into the population centers on China’s east and south coast.

IN FACT, during the early days right after the civil war(1950s~1960s), warplanes (made in U.S., piloted by nationalist Chinese pilots) launched from Taiwan were constantly bombing power plants, water plants, etc. in large cities on China’s east coast. Due to the communist on mainland had limited sea and air power. They were unable to stop it for decades until they were able to develop anti-air missiles and created a huge air force.

I know, the U.S. tried to trick dumb people to think it is the right thing to side with Taiwan because it is a “democracy” “country”. Yeah right, Taiwan was never a country of its own, and Taiwan never had a voting system until 1996. Jiang kai Shek ruled until he died of old age, then his oldest son took over and ruled until he died of old age as well. More like kingship. It was a military dictatorship from the start! Yet the U.S. supported them even before they were defeated in Chinese civil war.

The U.S. has no right to intervene from the start.
And all the ignorant people should read up the real history instead of U.S. propaganda.
