  1. John S says:

    10^6 means we move the decimal place 6 units to the RIGHT (because the exponent is positive).
    So, 3.692 x 10^6 = 3,692,000

    Same process for India:
    1.18 x 10^6 => 6 places to the right = 1,180,000

  2. Adi D says:

    Land area of India: 3,287,590 sq. km.
    Land area of China: 9,598,086 sq. km

    Total area: 12,885,676 sq. km
    In scientific notation: 1.2886 x 10^7 sq. km
    In SI units: 1.2886 x 10^10 sq. m
