Hi…Cantonese has definitely nothing to do with Thai. It’s a name for one of the Chinese dialects or a kind of food Chinese Cantonese people eat and the same goes for Chinese Mandarin. Chow-mein is not Thai food…except some of those Thai restaurants who have their signs say Thai-Chinese. If I’m not mistaken chow mein is a fried noodle…we Thai have this fried noodle called Pad-thai which is pretty sweet and not spicy at all. It’s a non-Thai’s favorite dish. They are just totally two different things. I don’t know…but Panda Express (Chinese) sounds good to me right now…hehe.

chinese food is food from china, or food that chinese make or eat. canton is a region in china, so cantonese food is food that is from that region, but is still considered chinese food. Thai food is food from Tailand, which is a whole different country.

chicken chow mein is a chinese dish, so if a thai restaurant is selling it, then they are selling a chinese dish not a thai dish, probably bacause more people eat chinese food than thai food. and thailand is close enough to china that americans dont really care that its not thai food.

china is a big country and some regions have different tastes. cantonese food tend to be sweeter and not spicy. others(Hunan, schechwan) can be more spicy. thai food has heat and sourness and if thai people make chicken chow mein, they might put their own taste into the dish.

There is no such thing as Cantonese Thai food. Cantonese is a regional Chinese cuisine from China and Thai food comes from Thailand which has nothing to do with China. The food is also completely different.
