They will not allow their currency to globally adjust. They are a dictatorship with bureaucratic entanglements that stop or slow decisions. The government is run by Communists that still want a one world Communist style government. Ideologues never succeed in a free marketplace. The only reason China has done as well as it has to this point is because government moved out of the way to build infrastructure and cash for their military, but like all tyrannical governments, a new person or ‘decree’ can revere or stop all progress.
too many people, china currently have 2 billion people that is more than 10 time u.s populations.
Well if more and more Americans lose their jobs, Walmart will sell less of their “made in China” goods and thus the Chinese war machine… I mean economy…. will suffer.
1) Political risk in wealth disparity, racial dispute
2) Corruption in the government and in business, as well as waste of resource by the government.
3) Censorship and lack of copy right, thus limiting the growth of their creative industries.
4) State control in some industry and in some policy which decrease efficiencies.
5) Heavy environment degradation which was not much taken care of.
6) Protectionism in trade and importing technology by advanced countries especially US.
7) Protectionism in foreign investment overseas, thereby restricting healthy growth of Chinese’s enterprises into international arena.
Aging population as a result of birth control.
9) Inability of high ranked management in Chinese enterprises who rise to their job and stay there because of corruption, relationships, political back up etc. Also because in earlier years the education was inadequate/just wrong.
There are territorial dispute and separatist problems but I think those are irrelevant to economic success. I tried hard to think of the 10th reason…….. but couldn’t, maybe later.
