
Question by brunettes_are_super: What is the difference between the two chinese symbols for strength?
I want to get a tattoo of the chinese symbol for strength but everytime I google it or look it up on the internet I get 2 different symbols. One has two characters in it and the other one only has one. Its difficult to explain, but if anybody can help me out please let me know.

Each Chinese character, aka hanzi, is a logogram which started out as a drawing. Each character has a meaning. I think the single character you saw is 力,2 together could be 力量, both means the same. Separately 力 is strength, 量 is quantity. Just think of each character being a root in the English language, so phone and telephone both mean the same thing.

Yeah, the Chinese character which use as describe strength is 力 and 力量
They both mean the same,
I’d say “力” instead of “量”.
力量 = 力, “量” itself does not mean “strength”, it is a general measurement of quality.
