It will have no effect on your visa requirements.

I have not attempted to get a longer visa in China. My wife (Chinese national) told me on my last visit that she could take our Red Books and my American Passport to the government office in Shenyang and get a much longer Visa for me than I could get in the US. She said only the Chinese National with their papers can do this, I am not sure as we did not attempt this. I do plan to try and find out in the coming months if this is true. I enjoy my trips to China very much and have wished before I could get a extended Visa so I could stay with my wife in China. As I said, I am not sure about this but I have heard this.

I knew a foreign expert who married a Chinese girl and had a kid with her. Then he got deported because of the 5 year rule.

If both of you can security a decent job in China, you can plan to stay there. Otherwise, it will take you two years just get her here in the US. My friend in California went through this four years ago, they were divorced right now. You should stay there for some time, to make sure you are truly for each other.
