Question by Robert: If I married a Chinese woman in China would I not have to worry about visas anymore?
My Chinese girlfriend wants me to marry her and I am thinking about maybe marrying her, but I wanted to know if there are any benefits to marrying a Chinese woman? Would I be able to attain permanent residence? Or would I not have to worry about L/F/Z visas anymore? I already know that I would not be able to become a citizen through marriage. Any Americans on here married to Chinese women living in China?

If you mary a Chinese/local, then you should qualify for a spousal visa. At least, that’s the way it works in the country called the Republic of China. Maybe the People’s Republic plays by different (or everchanging) rules that have little interest in meeting with the people’s long-term love interests. it’ll be interesting to see the other answers here.

It will have no effect on your visa requirements.
I have not attempted to get a longer visa in China. My wife (Chinese national) told me on my last visit that she could take our Red Books and my American Passport to the government office in Shenyang and get a much longer Visa for me than I could get in the US. She said only the Chinese National with their papers can do this, I am not sure as we did not attempt this. I do plan to try and find out in the coming months if this is true. I enjoy my trips to China very much and have wished before I could get a extended Visa so I could stay with my wife in China. As I said, I am not sure about this but I have heard this.
you could get a 2 year family visa but if you want to work you will still have to get a work visa
I knew a foreign expert who married a Chinese girl and had a kid with her. Then he got deported because of the 5 year rule.
If both of you can security a decent job in China, you can plan to stay there. Otherwise, it will take you two years just get her here in the US. My friend in California went through this four years ago, they were divorced right now. You should stay there for some time, to make sure you are truly for each other.
Best info is check with Chinese Consulate/Embassy here in US.
