Passing your family name down to the next generation is very important in the Asian culture. So if you a male you have a lot of pressure to get married and have kids.
What do you think? Answer below!

No Vietnamese ever called me a “f*ggot”

well not sure about the rest but seeing as china is a communist country and they don’t like people who r different i’d say they wouldn’t accept homosexuals!
well i know in China they look down upon it greatly. my step-grandma, who grew up in hong kong, found out my uncle was gay, when he was a teen, she kind of looked at him totally different in a bad way. thats why we havent told her im gay
Let me see…
Chinese=homophobic but with growing acceptance. As a rule of thumb, most places that practice theravada buddhism in China are ok.
Japanese=no one really cares, but some feel they should stay in the closet
Vietnam=generally a no-no.
Korea=no one cares
Laos=tolerance of male homosexuality but not lesbianism
In most asian countries, it will change from area to area.
I am an American and i am living and working in China right now. There are a lot of gays here, but most are in the closet. Most Chinese families want to carry on the family name, so like someone else said, they have a lot of pressure to marry and have a son here. I think it is changing some though and maybe in the future it will be more acceptable. They are adapting a lot of Western culture here now, especially the younger generation. I go to a club about twice a week and have guys flirt or hit on me while I am there, maybe because I am an American, I don’t know.. I even had a weird experience not long ago. I was sitting outside a dept. store waiting for someone, and an older man, probably in his late 50′s-early 60′s came up to me and asked me to go to the public restroom with him, and he rubbed my leg! This is very uncommon with the older generation! I of course said no thank you, and he went on his way… There are also a lot of gay for pay here too, I am not sure if they are bi, or just do it for the money. It is cheap though, I have been approached with this also. Life in China is very interesting!!
I think it’s more accepted in asia compared to western countries.
