Question by Lame O: How can we handle China flooding our markets without starting a trade war?
Tariffs and barriers sound like trouble, but they can work. What if Americans just stopped buying Chinese made goods? It sounds impossible, but theoretically speaking, if we stop buying made in China products, will they stop coming over?

You would be better to ask why it costs so much more to produce goods and services in the U.S. than it does in China and why they are so much more competitive than the U.S. in global markets.
#1) China has very few environmental standards. #2) Wages are lower there. #3) Little government regulation — just a few bribes here and there. #4) They manipulate their currency.
Tariffs and barriers only increase the cost of goods and services while lining the pockets of Government at the expense of the consumer. Put tariffs on them and they increase the cost of their goods making the government rich and you poor. Duh. If you stop buying from China, your cost of living goes up.
Any other bright ideas?
