  1. You know, we’re a pretty lax society if these underwear get to prance around and call themselves fantastic. I’m no fancy society maiden, but I do think a little old-fashioned grade inflation is going on if these underwear are waltzing in at an even five-star. Five-star? This is the Waldorf-Astoria of underpants? We’re talking about a silken Raging Bull strapped around my lower body? Let’s take a deep breath and really get into these underpants, without all the hyperbole and gushing praise of the typical underpants fan-boys.

First, these underwear are smooth. There’s no doubting it, smooth underwear are nice sometimes, and these even have a little bit of that zipping noise when you swoosh them around on your covers. But they didn’t really take into account those times when you don’t want to swoosh, when smoothness isn’t the comfort level you need. Also, sometimes you don’t always want the same comfort on both your legs and your underparts. I found myself many nights feeling like some flexibility would have been nice, detachable legs or a knob or something to vary the level of coarseness some regions, while keeping it relatively smooth on others.

Secondly, they do reach a long way down. You’d be surprised if you’re used to normal boxer shorts; these go down almost to your feet. I sent my first two pairs back, hoping to find some that fit me, but in the end, even the smallest pair went down to my calves. Also, it was very tight and was more like brief-capris. And yes, for those of you who see the picture, that’s really how far most of them go. I just thought it was a very short man or maybe a boy who bought some older person’s underwear in order to feel more mature but I think that’s a regular man there.

Finally, and this is only a small quibble, but I think an important one. The “diamond crotch”, “fly opening” is in the back, so you have to twist them all the way around just to take a pee. It’s almost just easier to pull them all the way down at the urinals than to take your pants all the way off in a public bathroom.

  2. A few years ago I discovered the divinity of silk long johns in the thinness and warmth they offer. As a girl with many skirts, they were heaven-sent for the freezing winter months. I find a pair for my father, and he loves them, but they ripped rather quickly (as thin silk is known to do) and I couldn’t find him a replacement. I bought two pairs of these for him, and he can’t stop thanking me. These are cheaper in price than a number of other companies, and through Amazon, the purchasing is a breeze.

these are only good if the weather in winter is 30 degrees and above. but for anything lower than 25 degrees, it will make your leggs feel like if your walking in a refrigerator. and the fabric is 100% pure filament silk. be sure to read the washing instructions before throwing them in the wash machine.

  4. This product and vendor is awesome. The material is excellent and the delivery time is good. I received a shipment e-mail last Tuesday and got the product by this Monday. Roughly a weeks time.

The product itself is awesome. Not too clammy or muggy. Keeps me warm but without a lot of bulk. Good to wear under kaikis or jeans in this biting wind in the morning in San Francisco.

  5. Light weight, and they keep you warm without sweating. My job requires me to be inside and outside all day long. Thermal bottoms are to warm for me to wear inside, however the silk bottoms don’t overheat me inside. Another great feature is they are not bulky like thermals.
