Question by ▐▀▀✿▀▀▌ LIL BEAR ▐▄▄✿▄▄▌: How can Chinese places afford to give you so much food for such a cheap price?
My husband and I can share a chinese meal and still have leftovers and it only costs $ 7. How can they afford to do this? They seriously give you like 25 pieces of chicken and a pound of rice and an egg roll. It’s so much food!

because its not chicken it is dog and cat!!!
What do you think? Answer below!

rice and noodles is pretty cheap that is the main ingredient throw in some broccoli and onions, few slices of questionable meat and hot peppers not really expensive to make
Pizza is by far the most overpriced item sold in the USA
the ingredients cost like less than 2 dollars yet they sell them for 15
They don’t exactly use the best cuts of meat for their dishes. This is a case where if you want to keep being able to enjoy chinese food you don’t really want to know full details about the food.
Hi
That is a good question I wish I knew the answer
Steve
cheap kitchen stuffs/labors salary, cash in hand payments etc etc
In the UK a lot of the cheap chinese buffet restaurants hire cheap labour – people that are illegal immigrants who will work for less than minimum wage. Maybe its the same in US
Like everything else made in China it is made by cheap labor and inferior material. You can bet it ain’t Grade A chicken.
Ever notice the same six people work in these Chinese restaurants hour after hour, day after day. Say, I noticed I haven’t seen your cat lately !
The chicken has 4 legs and meows
The chicken has 4 legs and eats cheese..
Rice is fairly inexpensive. They probably do not use the best cuts of meat. They probably also skimp on the quality of other ingredients. They may also buy food in large amounts to save money. Better quality Chinese food will be more expensive, but if you like the food, there’s no reason to stop going.
I always say the best food for your money in any given day is Chinese Food. I love to eat Chinese Food and we have it at least once a week. We always go to the same place and they know us there and you can get enough food for my lunch for the next two days on just left overs. Now, take my Husband, there are no leftovers for him. He finishes all his food, the soup, the egg roll, the main course. Just the fried rice he might not finish. I know that rice is very in-expense and most of the veggies they use they buy in bulk. The other meat, fish and pork they have to get some great prices on since they do not skimp on any of it. I think they just draw so many people and it is such a competitive business, since there are so many Restaurants around they have to stay with those low prices.
Do not complain, just enjoy with this economy we can still afford to eat Chinese food. The place we go to uses all white meat chicken when I ask, and real quality beef and pork. If you eat at a good Chinese Restaurant you get good quality for the money, no CAT FOOD!!!!!! That is an old wise tell.

I really don’t think it’s cheap at all. Chinese food is expensive.
Because place like pizza-pizza, mcdonald, kfc, etc, they overcharge you a lot. for chinese place, they sell food at lower prices since they only sell it at a price a little bit higher than the actual cost. plus, their ingredients are not really expensive and they tend to import the relatively cheap ones. the labour cost is not so high either compare to western restaurant. usually Chinese people work in Chinese restaurant. most of them are immigrants or students who desperately need a job and will settle for minimum wages.
plus, they have to sell it cheap. they are running business in western country!!if they sell it expensive, people will not want to go there and eat! it is considered exotic food, not every western people can get used to the flavor. for someone who’s not so crazy about chinese food, they won’t go there unless the price is low.
well i wanna know what the heck JTR2B is smokin sayin that chinese food is expensive i mean really have you ever been to a chinese resturant?
Hi,
What an Amazing question and I don’t have any idea too. But it might be because they use the leftovers (NOTES: I don’t know that for sure, it’s just a saying) I do hope that is not true! But I am lucky and know how to make Chinese food and do it myself at home. You know I did ask that question once years ago and they said most of the dishes are with veggies which are not so expensive but the Crab, meat and chicken ones they have to spend little more on. But in all it is not a very expensive dish to make in all and they buy everything in bulks. But then again I am not sure! Hopes that helps you and take care………happy eating
because they buy in bulk and freeze thier produce
a lot of it is filler
also they by in bulk
and can pass the savings along to the customers!!!!!
I don’t know and would hate to say that they are using ingredients that their not suppose to be using.
Mmmmm who cares! Just enjoy ur delicious, delicious food!
There are a couple reasons:
1. Most aren’t owned by corporations. The incentive to jack up prices isn’t there, and it’s hard for corporations to copy and franchise Chinese food, apparently. Maybe it’s hard to make the money they desire.
2. The meat’s probably really cheap.
3. I suspect many of these joints are opened with Asian mafia money. Do you see how many of these places open up a year? How many of them close and are replaced with another one in such a quick time?
4. The people working for them are probably illegals, Mexican or Chinese.
