Oh Flat Stanley!!, August 4, 2011

Reviewed by Zoey Crane (age 7) and Nana for Reader Views (8/11)

Flat Stanley is in the wrong place at the wrong time when twins Ying and Yang are going to present their flying act for the Chinese New Year. This book has a reading level for ages 9-12 but younger children with advanced reading skills should enjoy this.

    Zoey:

It seems like no matter what Flat Stanley does he gets into trouble. It’s not always fun to be flat. Most of the time Flat Stanley would help with shows, but this time he is carrying a sign around his neck. Ying and Yang are twins and are going to do a show at Flat Stanley’s school. Everyone made fun of him and he didn’t like it. Even the stage wasn’t being helpful- the lights blew out and he had to hang upside down with a flashlight. But he wasn’t even good with that. Yang’s foot got broken and now Flat Stanley had to go to China to make up for his behaviors. Flat Stanley will not be a flying Stanley as he is not too good at it.

    Nana:

Zoey likes Flat Stanley’s books. He is so funny and quite clumsy. She always laughs at how he got flat. “Flat Stanley’s Worldwide Adventure #7: The Flying Chinese Wonders” was a little harder for her to read but it was a great challenge for her.

    Book received free of charge.
