Columbia crap again,
Amazon’s source for this set is Columbia, and the same problems exist as for the (infamous) Columbian 8 setting.
The pattern is not properly under the glaze. Instead, they first glazed the ware, then they painted the pattern *on top of* the glaze! Which means the paint for the pattern will scape off over time with use. Come on, was something this basic really that hard to do right?
The Columbians also don’t understand color matching. The serving plate is a noticably fainter blue than the rest of the set.
Also note that the Churchill sugar bowl (even the English version) does NOT have handles, and is somewhat tippy and awkward to pass. And if you’re serving sugar cubes with a small tongs, there is not the usual handle to slip the tongs through to keep it together with the sugar bowl, which is a further annoyance. For this reason, you may instead prefer the “Myott Staffordshire Finlandia 3 1/2″ Sugar Bowl”, also available here on amazon, which is much more stable and actually has handles.
But overall this Columbia made set is NOT the quality of the English Churchill factory china and does NOT deserve the Churchill name.
If you are happy with a second rate knock-off, you might be content with this Columbian set at this price. But honestly, the real English version is not that much more expensive and substationally more durable for the price.

I ordered the completer set after ordering the 20 piece dinnerware set. I am very pleased with both. I use Finlandia as my everyday china and it stands up well to repeated use. I’ve been looking for new dinnerware for a long time, and finally settled on this style. This looks very classic and elegant, and is a good quality set for everyday. I’m very pleased with it.
