2 Responses to “Are there any athletes of Western ancestry who grew up in China representing China?”

  1. Harry·chao says:

    NO

  2. Cultural Insight says:

NO. There are very few people of western descent who are citizens or permanent residents of China. No star athletes among them.

Virtually all westerners who come to China for school or work retain their foreign nationality. In part this is because obtaining Chinese citizenship is a complex and very long process.

The largest concentration of Chinese citizens with western descent are in Hong Kong. There are approximately 30,000 of them (out of a population of 7 million).
